Im not happy

I bought this piece in October to give as a Christmas gift to my friend. I didn't open it from its regular box because it was wrapped on the outside with white transparent paper. I gave it as a Christmas gift but my friend returned it to me because it was broken. I called Macy's and they said sorry but we can't take it back because the return deadline has passed. There was a unprofessional man in the phone no help me and he was very disrespectful
