Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into an anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter. Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall... or maybe she's just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a "What are you wearing?" text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining albeit anonymous relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing.... Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend's annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she's turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He's sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she's the irresistible Miss Misdial he's been sort of sexting for weeks and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.

What a romantic comedy should be!

This story had my attention from beginning to end - never slowing down, never a dull moment! Mr. Wrong Number is all over the place is the best of ways, it’s an enemies to friends to best friends to lovers buffet. I laughed, I felt the heartbreak, I swooned, essentially I ricocheted over all the feels this book was able to invoke. Colin and Liv have known each other since childhood, correction - have loathed each other for as long as they can remember. To Colin, Liv was a walking disaster and to Liv, Colin was a stuck up prestigious rich boy who thought he was better than anyone else. One unfortunate fire and generous brother later, Liv finds herself crashing in an apartment shared by her arch nemesis. Sans money, clothes, and pretty much anything she had in her previous life, Liv finds herself trying to make sense of her situation when a text message comes through from an unrecognized number. Meeting her match in wit and zingers (plus the added anonymity of the situation), Liv sparks a text-ship with her mystery man and finds herself sharing more than she ever imagined. As fate would have it, the recipient to the vault of secrets is her new found roommate. When Colin discovers the identity of his wrong number tryst, he has to decide if he wants to see how far he can go or cut his losses. There are so many things I just loved about this book - the banter, the wit, the sarcasm - even Jack had me cracking up at times. What I loved most is that while this book could have been predictable, it wasn’t. There was always so much going on and with the parallel story lines of Colin/Liv and Misdial/Wrong Number, you were kept on your toes. The hook-up moments were on fire and the text messages were beyond smoldering. While she may have kept the spice rated R, it definitely ignited some NC17 after thoughts. Action, excitement, tension, and mayhem, Mr. Wrong Number is what a romantic comedy should be! I couldn’t put it down even if I wanted to and can’t wait to read more by this author.

For a Good Time Call This One!

Olivia Marshall is down on her luck after being laid off from her job, dumped by her boyfriend, and becoming unintentionally homeless after a little incident involving old love letters, matches … and a possum. Yeah, don’t ask. Lucky for her, her brother Jack is willing to let her stay at his and his roommate’s place for a month while she gets back on her feet. Not as lucky for her, she doesn’t realize that this roommate is Jack’s best friend since childhood, Colin Beck, who’s only ever seen her as Jack’s bratty little sister and now older snarkastic one. (Yes … ‘snarkastic’ is a word, if you count Urban Dictionary as a source, and I LOVE it. If you’re listening Mirriam-Webster, et al., please officially add it? I digress.) It’s a good thing Olivia has a mysterious new anonymous friend to vent to about her annoying situation. They’ve been texting regularly since the night he accidentally messaged her asking what she was wearing, and she’s become Miss Misdial to his Mr. Wrong Number. As the discussions get more personal, it’s amazing how much they have in common … especially when it comes to certain “appetites”, shall we say? Where does this all lead, and does Olivia get back on her feet and maybe find love in the process? Silly question. It’s a rom-com. You know the drill. That’s like asking if the sun is going to rise in the morning. Lynn Painter has written an incredibly witty, charming rom-com with hilarious banter, lots of Olivia’s funny klutzy moments and missteps, and a heaping helping of chemistry and sizzle. Seriously … is it hot in here? My only complaint is that she could sound a bit immature, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. I listened to this on audiobook while reading along on my Kindle, which was perfect. The voicework by Callie Dalton and Andrew Eiden was excellent and they brought both characters to life so well. I had a blast with this, and I’ll definitely be watching for more from Lynn Painter! ★★★★ ½ (rounded to 4)

Lynn Painter might be a new favorite author for me

Lynn Painter’s other book, Better than the Movies, was one that I adored, so I was excited for this one. I ended up getting the audiobook to listen to and it was totally worth it! First of all, Olivia’s interviewing experiences sounded EXACTLY like my own lousy interviews. Not to mention how she wanted to stay living close to her nephews is my exact reason I don’t look at jobs away from my home city because I don’t want to miss out on any time with my niece and nephew. This book was unique though, different from a lot of usual forced proximity, older brother’s best friend, wrong number romances. I mean, he didn’t have a crush on her all along, and that seems more realistic to me. So I liked that aspect. And while I get why he didn’t tell her when he found out, I also know he should have, and I understood why she was upset at that point. It was more than just the not telling her, the author did a great job of making it more than that so that her emotions made total sense! Also, the female narrator on this one sounded soooooooo much like Sarah Michelle Gellar to me! Anyway, loved this one, and can’t wait for more by this author!

Funny, charming, and sinfully sweet

Marie's Review for Elizabeth's Romance Reviews 4.5 Stars Mr. Wrong Number was a curve ball for me. I was expecting a cheesy rom-com, and while there is a certain level of cheesiness that I loved, this one was a little more on the serious and relatable side of life. The heroine, Olivia, is exactly the kind of person I’d love to spend time with. She’s hilarious, awkward, and reminds me so much of myself when I was her age. She has a less than stellar track record with just about everything in life, but that gives her a quirkiness that is both appealing and attractive. Colin, the hero of the story, is just about every woman’s fantasy. He’s rich, handsome, charming… akin to a Mr. Darcy type. He finds his best friend’s sister, Olivia, to be a little less than amusing. Almost annoying. But after spending some one-on-one time with her, he can’t help but be charmed by her and all of her flaws. He shows a soft and tender side that makes him all the more appetizing. They are quite the comedic team that flourishes in the romance and sexual tension that blooms between them. It makes for a quick, fun, and exciting read. I would highly recommend adding this one to your TBR pile. You won’t be sorry you did. **We received a complimentary copy of the book generously provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review**
