Nice bag!

I really love my other two ebags backpacks, one of which is the Mother Lode Jr. I needed a wheeled bag of smaller dimensions to fit foreign airlines' limitations and this seemed to fit the sizing perfect. I haven't used it yet, but it seems durable and will be a great addition to the few luggage pieces I normally use.

SO glad the mother lode is back!

I've used these bags for years - before Samsonite bought out the original company. This is the best suitcase to use as carry-on. I was a flight attendant for 20+ years and have been through so many bags. I was concerned that the bag was discontinued and couldn't find anything else on the market that seemed as good. The mother lode is an exceptional bag.

Rugged, roomy carry on

I’m on my second Mother Lode carry on. Between them they have traveled over 1,000,000 miles, it has held up and still looks good. It is the best bag I’ve ever owned. Very happy to see that Samsonite has reintroduced them.

Not like the 2015 Ebags

I was so excited to see the Ebag back! I ordered with great expectations and am disappointed in its performance. The zipper is defective on the exterior, and it does not help having your clothing in 2 separate compartments. Please do away with 2 sides. ONE large side is enough! The zipper inside for toiletries is also defective. I am a bit disappointed. It does rolls nicely and is not cumbersome. The huge SAMSONITE lettering is a little much, but ok!! Please bring back the original style of ebag

Old reviews are for eBags new bag has zipper issue

I looked at a lot of the reviews and they are from a year ago, those were eBags Mother Lode roller-bag. The one that they are just now selling is made by Samonite, as they bought eBags. I work in the airline industry and need a great bag. I loved my eBags and needed another so I was so excited that Samonite finally started making the Mother Lode. Well my excitement went away when I got mine. It looks almost identical with the same feature, except it is different material which I don't like the feel off, the eBags was smoother. The main issue I am having is the zipper for the expansion feature. The zipper seems cheaper out of the box, the zipper has a lot of trouble zipping it back. I can see this becoming a huge problem as I take my old bag on vacations lasting more than 2 weeks. You can cram a lot of stuff in there, and I literally have to sit on my current bag to close the expanded part and never had an issue. Hoping the zipper will be fixed and made sturdier. As for now it is going back. I don't want to have an issue when I am working or going on vacation.

Fine, but missing key features.

I have a 2016/7 Mother Lode Backpack. I love it, but it was getting too heavy for me to carry around the airport. I wanted something with wheels. I was hoping that this would be similar to it - not really. Even though the material looks the same, the rolling duffel material feels weaker and feels cheaper. The zippers do not smoothly go around the duffel and keep getting stuck at the top. They also lack the ability to be locked - who makes luggage without lockable zippers? The handles are so close to the duffel, it is difficult to grab them. It also lacks a luggage tag area, and I was hoping for a place to store a water bottle (my fault for not realizing this). I like the access to the large front compartment - more that I thought that I would. However, I am not in love with bag. If I had seen it in person, I would not have bought it. The bag could have been so much more!

This Carry-On Does it All

I bought my Mother Lode Carry-On over ten years ago and have traveled around the world with it. The versatility, durability, features and size are exceptional. I love the top zipped pocket for small items and last minute additions. There always seems to be more room when I need to cram in another item, and the expansion side increases the capacity even more.
