Great Design & durability

I bought 2 of these & the carryon bag, after my expensive hard shell case had the wheels knocked off during a trip to SE Asia. The bags have made 5 return trips to Vietnam, several domestic trips & still look new. They are designed very well, and durable. Absolutely no regrets, and highly recommended!

SEARCH IS OVER...BEST OF THE BEST

We have used the Mother Lode bags for decades now. It has been "finally a bag the airport workers cannot destroy!" We'll never purchase anything else. The many we have gifted have also garnered glowing reviews...from honeymooners, graduates and world travelers...they've all agreed BEST OF THE BEST. I can get into one of these bags what it used to take me two. Made cruising much much easier too.

This bag used to cost half the price before they shut E-bags down. Its a great bag but samsonite jacked up the price after they bought the company

Cheaped out at a higher price !!!

I have had these bags when they wet my we’re E-bag branded, for probably 20 years maybe more. I traveled almost every week twice by plane for 40 years. After I bought the first motherlode the largest size 32” I never bought anything else except went to the smaller version as I streamlined what to pack. I don’t remember how many I purchased over the years but they held up well and I had everything organized with the Velcro fastened dividers. Now the last one I bought about a year ago in anticipation of the demise of the previous one, which lasted another year. Now that I decided to switch to the new one I found that the dividers of the bottom compartment were missing as are the compression straps on the outside the top handle is no longer padded, overall the material is much thinner, I had to install the dividers from my previous bags with rivets but the flexibility is gone. This bag will likely not hold up a year with the amount of travel I do, the bag is lighter and maybe sufficiently strong for someone who travels infrequently, but I will probably have to look elsewhere

My favourite travel companion

I bought this model over 10 years ago. Back then they had great colours so I bought a red one. It has been all over the world everywhere in temperate and warm climates.. It suits my packing cubes perfectly and it's expandability is great if I buy stuff while away. As others have said, it would be great if it had a side handle. My only other gripe is that at USA 20lbs (4.5kgs) it's a heavy bag to start with so wish it was only about 2.5 to 3kgs for me. Still my fav travel bag for 1 - 2 wks travel.

Cheap zipper. Broke on first use

Expandable zipper was not in use. Bag about 3/4 wat full and after first trip checking bag - the zipper is broke and makes the bag flop around and hard to maneuver. No other damage to bag. Would not recommend to use for a checked bag. Beginning of an African safari and this is going to SUCK!!!

Missing the divider in the old model

We love all the Mother Load bags we bought in 2017. The new large checked rolling duffel bags are still great, but the dividers in the compartments are no longer there and that is why I took one star away. The dividers were my favorite feature. I pack fragile items in hard boxes like shoe boxes. The divider helps keep things in place and organized, especially in larger luggage. Hope to see the dividers back in future models.
