The Best Primer Ever
When I say this Primer passed the test trust me . I usually have very oily skin but this took care of that immediately. Plus a small amount went a long way for me. Innovative product with known ingredients
I used this every morning for a week and am really pleased. The idea of putting salicylic acid in a primer is so innovative. It's hard to find a primer that doesn't clog my pores but this one did the job while also helping keep oil around my nose at bay. This in term helped my foundation stay put. Highly recommend. All day long wearing perfection
The Smashbox Photo Finish Oil & Shine Control Primer has become my go-to for oily skin days. I applied it in the morning around 8 AM after my skincare routine. It felt incredibly lightweight and silky going on—like a gel that quickly turns powdery without any heaviness or tightness. My skin instantly looked smoother, with pores blurred and no greasy residue. The scent is very subtle and almost nonexistent—clean and neutral, nothing overpowering or perfumey, which I really appreciate since strong fragrances can irritate my skin. Throughout the day (even through Nashville's humid weather), it kept shine under control for a solid 10+ hours, no midday blotting needed. Makeup glided on flawlessly over it and stayed put without pilling. I genuinely enjoyed how comfortable and matte it felt all day—definitely worth it for long-wear perfection!

Fabulous Matte Primer under Makeup
This primer has been a fantastic addition to my daily makeup routine. I love it because not only does it control my oily skin on the spots that need it, but it leaves my entire face feeling even with a matte finish. Great for oily skin!
This is my new go to primer! I'm approaching 40 so my skin is maturing and also has always been oily, before I would still have to use oil blotting sheets even when using mattifying products. With this primer it's been such a nice change to not be shiny and oily after a hour of being applied. It goes on light and is a great base for my cc cream. Highly recommend! T-zone under control!
I have combination skin that leans dry overall, but struggle with an oily T-Zone. I had the opportunity to order and try smashbox's PHOTO FINSIH OIL CONTROL MATTIFYING PRIMER. This is a 1 ounce tube of primer that is slightly off-white in color and has a gel-like consistency. It is formulated with thoughtful key ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, BHA, and Vitamin E. I ran the ingredients through an analyzer and was pleased to see that this primer is free of alcohol, fragrance, parabens, sulfates, oil, is EU-allergen-free and reef-safe. The only two flats are that this contains silicone and is not fungal-acne-safe. These are not concerns for me but might be important to note if you're sensitive to them. This primer is easy to apply evenly, dries and absorbs almost instantly and it's incredible just how soft and smooth my skin feels after using it. I have used this both with and without foundation and love it both ways. I appreciate the true matte finish that it provides and how well it controls my oily T-zone without furthering the dryness of the rest of my face. I have been using this in the mornings and my average length of use has been about 10 hours and the impressive results have carried through that time. Additionally, my foundations staying power is absolutely furthered when using this primer. Ultimately, I think this primer is impressive in all ways, while being gentle on my skin with nice quality ingredients. I absolutely recommend giving it a try! Good job
This is my first time using a cream like this. What I have to say is: I thought it would dry out my skin, but it actually turned out to be very pleasant, with a delicate texture. It applies evenly and holds makeup beautifully; my skin doesn't get oily or shiny throughout the day. I can definitely say that it did exactly what it was supposed to do!
