Really detailed!!

Hello! I'm a sophomore in high school and bought this book for a school assignment and I ended up loving it! It was so detailed that it made me feel like I was living through Malcolm X’s life. I really enjoyed learning about Islam, especially his journey to Mecca, and the transformation he went through afterward. The way he talks about racial turmoil in America and the experiences of Black Muslims was eye-opening. This book took me about five days to finish, which is fast for me especially since I usually struggle with longer books. But this one was so interesting I couldn’t put it down! Before reading it, I had always heard that Malcolm X hated white people and was considered the "radical opposite" of Martin Luther King Jr. But after reading about his life in his own words, I learned that wasn't the full story. He didn’t hate white people, and in many ways, he and MLK weren’t as different as people often say. This book is a great way to learn about the life of a Black man growing up during a difficult time in America. It also helps you understand struggles that many Black people still face today. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Just wow....

The most important book I’ll ever read; it changed the way I thought, it changed the way I acted. This book was excellent. I loved everything and hated that it had ended. I wish Malcolm X could have seen how much people loved him and how much his work and words changed how people acted and the viewpoint of African Americans. Malcolm X was a fantastic human being and a thoughtful leader who accepted and corrected his shortcomings. Unfortunately, he was assassinated five decades ago. Still, his message and work live on in the hearts of millions of African Americans and other people of color worldwide. This is the number one book I recommend to people to read to become leaders, understand our struggles, and learn from a fantastic soul.

Great to learn more about segregation.

I am a sophomore in high school, and for my research assignment, I chose Malcolm X. This book was suggested by my teacher, who considered it to be informational. I would definitely agree with that. The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as told to Alex Haley, is a powerful and influential book that provides first hand information about the Jim Crow era. In this book, you will read about Malcolm’s childhood, his involvement in crime, and his career as a minister and civil rights activist. Malcolm’s honesty helped because information like this is usually hidden and forgotten because people are ashamed of what happened. Like MLKJ, Malcolm had a big impact on our lives today. X now encourages people to, by any means necessary, fight until they receive what they deserve. In today's world, we accomplish this through protests. The only thing I disliked about this book was that it didn’t really have information about what the nation of Islam is and what Muslims practice.

Great book

I am a sophomore in high school who chose to do my research project on Malcolm X. This book was very informative and gave me a lot of information that I did not know about Malcolm X before. I knew the basics of him being a civil rights activist but I never really know about his personal life. When I first started reading the book I thought it was going to get right into why he was apart of the movement but no. The book talked about what it was like growing up, how it was living through segregation and basically about his whole life. The book went into deep detail and Thad what I liked about it. I didn’t like how slow it was at first but once you do start reading it it does get better. This book is great for readers who wanna know more about Malcolm’s childhood life and what it was like growing up. This book goes into detail if you are doing a research project or just trying to read an amazing book this is for you. Overall it was a great read and I do recommend.

Highly Recommend!

I am currently a high school student and was assigned for English class a Research Project. I chose Malcolm X as my topic. When looking for books, I was recommended this one by my teacher because she told me it would provide me with all the information I needed. I can say now that I am happy I read this book because it furthered my knowledge of Malcolm X. In the autobiography, the book gives in-depth details of Malcolm's life from his childhood all the way to his adulthood. I enjoyed this read because the topic of Civil Rights has always been interesting to me. Not only does the book talk about Civil Rights, but it shows the vulnerable side of Malcolm X and all the challenges that he had to face throughout his life. By the end of the book, I was motivated to learn more about him. Overall, I highly recommend this book. If you enjoy Civil Rights and the personal stories of people who experienced it as a whole or if you are just looking for a book that will keep you interested this is the one for you.

The Best

I am a Sophmore student who chose to inform my class about Malcolm X within my research project. I knew he was a civil rights activist but I never knew his life story or reasoning behind it. This book is perfect for those of you who want to know what it was like being Malcolm X and what it was like in his own shoes. It began with his early life, childhood, adulthood, till death and influences after. The book included intricate detail one of them being, quoting from his journaling at the time, which allows us readers to grasp a feeling as to what his thought process was at that time. It gives information on the people whom influenced him in being the person he grew to be, such as family and the main one Elijah Muhammad. It also didn't sugar coat things and was very realistic, showing the failures and triumphs within his career. The language used wasn't difficult and was very detailed which gave the reader the most information on Malcolm X. Though it is considered a long read, I managed to finish it in approximately three weeks, this of course included my bus schedule with school and outside activities. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to further their knowledge on the civil rights activist, Malcolm X, and his ideal thinking and lifetime. Whether its for a project or your own desire, I 10/10 recommend this book and all the knowledge it comes w.
