I purchased this during the holiday after my 10 year old wine opener broke. I went to use it for the first time in march and it pushed the cork down. It appears as though it does not work. I am highly dissatisfied with this and will have to purchase another wine opener.
Pushes Cork into Bottle - Doesn't Work!
This corkscrew has never worked for us. It always pushes the cork into the bottle. At first we thought the winery had a streak of bad corks. We tried it on a much newer vintage from a different winery and it pushed that cork in too (and splashed wine all of a new shirt!). After more than half a case with pushed in corks, we realize the problem is this corkscrew.
Hoping this continues to work
So far I have only opened 1 bottle of wine with it but it does perform as it is meant to. My problem has been that after I open 4-5 bottles that the device literally falls apart with the spring area where you crank the cork out of the bottle.
PIECE OF JUNK
I have used this wine opener 4 times since I purchased it. The first time it worked perfectly. The following 3 times the cork was pushed into the neck of the bottle by the opener. The pressure caused be the cork being pushed into the neck of the bottle caused the wine (red)to be spewed all over me and the kitchen counter. Had great difficulty getting the cork out of the neck of the bottle, but did succeed eventually. Today I was EXTREMELY careful with the process when I opened the wine, thinking I must have done something incorrectly in the last two uses of the opener. Again, the cork was pushed into the neck of bottle! I give up and am returning this piece of junk.
