10 Cup Thermal Coffee Maker
The coffee pot works pretty well and I do really like the metal decanter. That said, the decanter seems to leak when I pour the coffee at least for the first pour. Second, I am to a huge fan of the fact that there is no heater for the decanter. I understand the coffee stays hotter for longer in this style of a decanter, but after 4 - 6 hours, it starts to cool down and the only way to heat it back up at that point is the microwave. I like when the decanter sits on a burner that I can control and turn on and off to keep the coffee warm or hot throughout the day.

Good coffeemaker
I am enjoying my new Cuisinart Coffeemaker. It makes a good cup of coffee, with just the right temperature. My only dissatisfaction is with setting up the coffee. Water container has a small spout and is clumsy to fill. Unit needs to be turned sideways to fill in order to watch the water level measurement. While I enjoy the end result, I will probably look for a different style next purchase.

Nice Cuisinart 10 cup
I’ve been using my new Cuisinart 10 cup coffeemaker for a few weeks. I like the 10 cup size and simple design. You brew the coffee, then the heating element shuts off and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot. This works well for me. Cuisinart’s been a quality, long lasting brand for me and I hope this coffee maker will last a long time too.

Disappointed-Warm coffee
I have always lived this brand and have many products but this was horrible. The brewed coffee is not great but the pot is really an issue. In less than 5-6 brews the pot lining inside was coming off and I’m assuming I drank it. Tried wiping it but did no good. Sent it back and bought a different brand with a glass carafe. This does not have a warming plate. Just so unimpressed.

Nice Coffee Maker. But not perfect
Makes great coffee, keeps it warm in the thermal carafe. One major drawback is that it is awkward to fill the reservoir with water due to the lid design, which limits access to the top of the tank.

changed from 12 cup thermal to 10 cup thermal
After using 12 cup for years I changed to 10 cup. The biggest difference is 12 cup kept coffee hot for 8 hours, 10 cup only 4 hours, after that warm. The dial vs buttons is different. 12 cup exterior was srainless steel and 10 cup is black plastic making it lighter. Both allow water to drip when paused but not much. I hope this won't rust out the plate at the bottom like happened to my 12 cup.

The World’s Worst Cup of Coffee
I recently received this new cuisinart model coffee maker for a Christmas gift. It replaced a completely functional 20+ year old Cuisinart coffee maker (model # DTC 975 BKN) that I still used everyday. This new model I now have is a big disappointment. Using the exact formula of coffee grind/water blend, I have found the coffee to have a bitter taste. I have also tried to strengthen the blend, use bottled water, add salt, etc., but the coffee taste is awful. I have used this new coffee maker at least once a day if not twice a day since Christmas and it is not improving. Another complaint I have, which is just as important as the first, is the coffee temperature. Cuisinart has designed this new coffee maker to make a pot of coffee in record time. For the exact same amount of coffee I had in my old model, this new coffee maker makes my 8 cup of coffee, almost 2 minutes quicker! What’s the hurry? When I pour it from the decanter into a cup of coffee, it is 132°. My old coffee maker poured out at a temperature of 151°. I enjoy my coffee, hot and with the new coffee maker it isn’t that way, which allows your cup to become cold quicker and the taste goes downhill from there. Lastly, it has this beeping alarm to indicate when the brewing process is over. It worked for the first day or two but now you can hardly hear it! My old Cuisinart sounds as good today as the day it was when I first got it. I’m truly disappointed in this product and definitely would NOT recommend getting one.

Poor design
I was so excited to receive it, because it had all the features I was looking for, but I was very disappointed when I made my first pot. There were grounds in the coffee and on top of the carafe after brewing. When I poured some into a cup, there was a ring of grounds around the edge and in the bottom of the pot was a layer of coffee silt. I tried paper filters, the permanent gold filter, using less grounds and nothing worked. It was noisy while brewing and the beeping when done was loud and annoying. Very disappointed and returned after 6 attempts.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Cuisinart® Discontinued 10‑Cup Thermal Classic Coffeemaker, model DCC‑1170BK, and we’re sorry it did not meet your expectations during use. Grounds in the coffee can sometimes occur if the filter is not seated properly or if a grind that is too fine is used, though we understand you attempted multiple solutions without success. We’re happy to hear you were able to complete a hassle‑free return, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide detailed feedback; you for your feedback, as it helps us make improvements to future models.
