smell won’t go away

I really like the basket but it has a scent that fills the bedroom and won’t go away. It’s smells like something was chemically sprayed on it or something. For awhile I thought something old was rotting in my kids room. I’m concerned that they’re breathing in whatever the scent is. It’s has lasted at least two weeks now since we got the hamper.
