OXO's Top Ratings Failed on This Electric Kettle

I bought this electric hot water kettle because of OXO's great ratings on other kitchen tools. The ratings on the kettle were positive as well. However there were a few complaints about a bad smell/taste after the water heated. There is a rubber type gasket in the bottom of the water well and that seemed to be where the smell was coming from. It smelled up the kitchen and my tea water with a burnt rubber taste even after several new pots of water, and so I had to return it.

Persistent chemical taste

I’ve had this kettle for more than three months and it still retains a terrible burnt plastic chemical taste with every use. I’ve tried cleaning with soap, baking soda and white vinegar— nothing gets rid of it.

Terrible Taste

I love thise kettle for everyday use! I use this every morning to make me a hot cup of tea, I also make my bobas in it for bubble tea! Its perfect for everyday use and boil water very quick-like!

Best Electric Kettle there is

This electric kettle is very good and it’s not loud at all. I really like the design as it makes it look sleek and modern even in a kitchen. The pouring and handle are very easy to use as the water doesn’t splash around. I like the indicator as well because it tells you how hot the water is.
