Best Printer I've Ever Had

I've had home office printers since the early 1990s, so have been through quite a few over the decades, and this Maxify GX4020 is easily the best of the bunch. Over the roughly 18 months that I've owned it, I've had zero problems and the ink tanks have cut my ink costs drastically vs the Canon inkjet cartridges that I've been using in the past. I have an all Apple setup for my home office -- desktop, laptop, tablet and phone -- and I've never had an issue printing wirelessly from any of my devices. The printer also never drops its connection to my Asus router, which is a problem I've experienced with Canon printers in the past. Overall, no complaints, and I'd happily buy this same printer all over again.

Paper feed was spot on for me.

I do a lot of card stock, and it was hard to find a printer of the size that included a rear, straight-through paper feed. Not only does this model – and I suppose other GX models – include both a straight-through paper feed PLUS a manual feed tray, a twofer benefit! (Is "twofer" a word?)

Consider this first!

I comparison shopped and picked this machine as the best for me. I was fooled. It is always OFFLINE. I can't get it back online no matter what I try. Go on to another printer.

Not a great first impression

It may print double-sided, but c'mon...MANUAL 2x scanning from the ADF? For this price point, it should be automatic. Nowhere in the documentation did it say it could or could not do this function. I use it all the time, so not sure how long I'll be keeping this printer. First time out, I needed to print envelopes from the back feeder, which did not go smoothly. Sent to print a number of times, would only get one to print, then 5 or 6 blanks run through. App said it printed, but did not. Then there was the smudging and ink runs. This did get better as more pages were printed, but definitely not a good first impression. This is my first tank printer, so I'm curious to see how well it works out. The thought of replacing expensive and wasteful cartridges was a selling point.

GX4020 is a joy to use

Excellent printer and supper motivated support. They just need a better database of error messages. Finally, a search of the Internet for the error found a better solution than their dedicated support engineers.

Canon appears slow to process a minor credit

I am pleased with product and its performance. Placed printer order 11/8/24 and have been waiting for small nominal $60 refund since 11/9/24.
