Beautiful, Yet Fragile
Initially, I set the fountain up and it was beautiful and well worth all the effort. Unfortunately a portion broke after lifting the ball portion that has the lid attached.Tilting the ball back slightly, then placing it back down on the inner rim edge of the base...cracked the rim that hold the ball lid. Using clear two part epoxy, I did the best I could to put all of the rim pieces together again. Then using plumbers epoxy put, I was able to hold the broken rim in place on the base. After that, a bead of construction adhesive around the exterior rim. Followed up with gloved hands and a full tube of 100% silicone smeared underneath the interior rim. Let it dry for 48 hours, then a small amount of espresso colored spray paint on the rim. Finally, 10 dabs of silicone on the top edge of the rim to create cushions for absorbing potential future shock. It was a lot to go through, yet, I am pleased with the results and glad it could be repaired versus a total loss. My recommendation is buy and enjoy this fountain and consider applying a number of clear silicone dabs around the perimeter edge of the base that holds the ball lid for cushioning.
