I came across this brand as I have made it my mission to purchase only well made, and to purchase items made in countries where those making the item are experts and not inexperienced cheap labor. Moreover, it also matters to me that the item is made in places where there is a rule of law, and where there are regulation, which lets me know I can trust the product and its ingredients. Moreover I am in to supporting countries (where quality is produced,) where there is democracy, and to make sure those working in those countries are able to continue to produce the well made, quality items, in a sense I believe such workers are worthy of investment, not only because I love the products they produce, but because I believe supporting them is supporting democracy. So needless to say, I was introduced to Zwilling J.A Henckels when I was looking for quality and well made items, which are made in reputable country. My first purchase set of cutlery by this brand (not all the Zwilling J.A. Henckels items are made in Germany,) was a major disappointment, it was dull especially when one is expecting better, however I recognized right away, that it was not made in Germany. Therefore, obviously, that set was donated to the nearest GoodWill, especially after finding out that the brand had cutlery made in Germany, and what a difference between the made in Germany and not made in Germany cutlery when I bought the Made In Germany Zwilling J.A. Henckels, I was amazed how well it worked, so needless to say I had managed to buy every type of knife that I felt was needed to complete my collection, however since that set did not come with serrated knife, I ended up buying two such items, prior to this one. One was similar but smaller and the other one had similar look to bread knife but smaller, which btw, are excellent but I was looking for this sized serrated knife, for its size and heft. This knife (just like any of the other made in Germany Zwilling J.A. items) is sharp, well made and just quality, makes chopping enjoyable, literally no effort needed to be chopping or cutting. I love all the other Zwilling J.A Henckels items I own, however I love this one even more, for its utilitarian use. Point is, I can not describe how good this (and all the other made in Germany Zwilling knives,) knife is, you would just have to try it for yourself.
