Lightweight Hiking short

I purchased these Back Country ripstop hiking shorts as a gift for a casual hiker. At first he didn't care for the fabric and stated that it was too thin. Love the color. After trying on other similar shorts, he decided the overall fit and stretch was best although a little short. Wish they came in a little longer length (8-9"). Price is high so I hope they are durable as described for hiking and long lasting.
