I want to love this

I want to love this bed- and hopefully some day will. Appearance-wise it is as expected. Sturdy, nice looking and what I was looking for. But the “Greenguard Gold” certification can’t be real…we are 4 weeks in and my son still can’t sleep in the room with it. The wood/stain smell is sooooo potent that it triggers crazy allergy reactions from all of us. The whole room stinks even after airing out with open windows and then with our Austin air purifier running. I had to order another new mattress (we already had a BRAND new Naturepedic one for it). When we took it off the bed to put it into another room while the wood continues offgassing (after the bed sat offgassing for a week), the smell of the wood of the bed was embedded in the mattress. After 2 weeks away from the bed, the mattress still stinks like it. My son is no longer able to tolerate sleeping on it due to the smell. We also have the white version of this bed, which is much less potent and wore off more quickly. But I’d steer clear of the clay! It can’t be healthy for anyone to breathe overnight. It’s a shame, especially with the Greenguard claim.
