One defect
There's a manufacturing defect that doesn't affect the coffee. This is my second Cuisinart coffee maker, the first with a thermal carafe. The lid of the carafe pushes up against the bottom of the basket so that the basket handle pushes up the top lid on the right.

Too many problems!
I have 3 problems with this appliance. I put milk in coffee but always microwave the milk in my cup FIRST until it is scalding hot. This coffee maker does NOT make hotter coffee. I started waiting to brew it just before we eat so it will be as hot as possible, but it becomes lukewarm very quickly. I have never had this problem with any other coffee maker. What's with the weird lid on the carafe? The coffee just dribbles out when I pour it. We have started removing this lid to pour. It's annoying. Something went wrong with the last 2 pots I've made. I use exactly the amounts of coffee/water that I've always used and instead of the usual 3 cups full, we barely got 2.

Stays hot for long time
Easy to use. Coffee stays hot for over an hour after brewing. Every time I pour it drips a little bit. Not a lot but annoying non the less. 12 (8oz)cups doesn’t go far these days. I have to brew 8 cups of coffee to fill 3 coffee cups. Got it hoping it would be cheaper than a keurig but ends up costing more.

Deficient water temperature as there is no way to
The water temperature isn’t hot enough for brewed coffee and goes cold after serving.

Everything that we had hoped for in a coffee pot
We wanted a thermal carafe as the glass ones keep getting broken. Read several of the reviews prior to purchasing. Pleasantly surprised to receive such a great product with no issues as stated in other reviews. The carafe holds the temperature better than separate thermal carafes. Brewing is perfect and consistent. The lid lines up with the markings on the carafe for correctly seating the lid. The coffeemaker is easy to program. The only issue is the ability to completely empty the carafe with the lid on. This is easily solved by removing the lid to get the last drops of the delicious coffee to pour into your cup. These are easy solutions to the issues raised in others' reviews. Buy it - you'll love it.
