Tightener can strip. Wire slips back to loose.

Oxo is replacing the entire unit right now because they also do not carry replacement wires. Great when it works. Don't let foolish people use it.

Finally, a cheese slicer where the wire is always tight!

Well, I suppose it might not always be tight if the wire becomes stretched beyond adjustment, and you need to replace the wire, but the wire is replaceable. You adjust the wire tension with a thumbwheel. It comes with two replacement wires. The handle is the iconic OXO “Good Grips” one that you likely already know and love.

Great Product

Well made - sturdy and works great. It comes with two replacement wires, but Oxo does not sell additional replacements. It’s a premium product. I’ve bought them for myself as well as for gifts.

High quality slicer

This is my second OXO cheese slicer. I really don’t know how long I had the first slicer but several years, and the wire only recently broke. OXO sent me a new one with spare wires, so I was able to repair the old one. Now I have two! OXO is a great consumer friendly company.
