Melitta Coffee Maker short on quality
A++ for design, however, the product does not appear to be of Melitta quality to last. Glass carafe, paper thin, weighs in at 14.6oz and feels like egg shell thickness, glass discolors with usage, can see with naked eyes, thin lines in glass circumference. After a few days use, the unique "copper" collar, began to show white Steam? marks not removeable. The filter basket, has a spring stopper on bottom that gets stuck in open position, causes drips (potentially more trouble, if not aware and would remove carafe before brewing complete)! Expectations are for a Drip Coffee Maker to last minimally 5 years, after 1 week of use . . . sadly unsure this will hold 6 mos needing to be cautious and watchful. May just be too delicate and 'high maintenance" for my spouse's daily use.

Looking at photos and videos, we were absolutely in love. Couldn't wait for it to come, so we could start using it. The first pot was as superior a cup that we had ever had ** we did buy some expensive whole beans, that were far better, as it turns out, than our usual Folger's pre ground. The quality carried through the next few pots....and we were pleased. Then........... 1. My wife became terrified that she would break the relatively 'thin' glass carafe. So I sent an email query to Melitta, asking if we could buy another carafe as a back up......two weeks, and still waiting for a response from them.....oh well. 2. The water pours out in a nice looking 'shower head', and wets the grounds very well. "However", after a week or so, we noticed an oily film on the shower head; and without a lot of work, one cannot properly clean the shower. 3. The plastic connection between the bottom of the coffee grounds thingie and the top of the carafe [that the coffee water drains *ran out of room
