Great camera but needs improvement
Great camera, clear menus, great rendering straight out the camera and fantastic LUTs. Full frame at the cost of many APS-C cameras. On the other side, it’s a heavy camera. Panasonic should address the following areas in next iteration. They should bring down the size and weight. Startup time is longer than expected. Biggest negative for me is the slooooow playback. Even after using v90 SD cards it’s painfully slow.

Took a while to fall in love
Over the past few years I've worked my way through every major camera manufacture, selling one and buying another while looking for system that fit my style. Lumix wasn't on my radar until the S5II came out. I've owned the S5II for six months and initially I wasn't sure if I would keep it. I mostly do still photography and dabble in video here and there, and the S5II just felt a bit off compared to what I was used to. I kept putting it in the rotation with my other cameras and I became accustomed to the controls, settings, etc., started to realize how awesome it is. Little things like the drive mode dial vs. digging into menus is absolutely brilliant, and I love how customizable the camera is overall. The S5II also took me from dabbling in video to taking it more seriously. Watching a bunch of YouTube videos on how to configure the S5II for videos definitely helped. Video stabilization is insanely good compared to other cameras I've owned. The S5II is now my only full frame camera. I do hope that Panasonic comes out with a S1H II or something with a higher resolution sensor, but I would still keep the S5II for low light. I liked the S5II so much that I also bought a GH7 (already invested in M43) and will be purchasing an S9 with the 18-40mm for a more compact full frame option. Anyway, the S5II is awesome, especially considering the price. The latest firmware update has made things even better, the Lumix Lab app is great.
