Beautiful construction but bad defects

I've owned this set for 2 months now, and it is definitely a beautiful set, nice solid construction, comfortable chairs. Unfortunately it came with a slew of manufacturing defects. Every chair had a pair of blemishes on each side, the finished wood was chipped off in these areas, as if a tight belt or packing tape had squeezed the chairs too tightly. One of the corners of the table top had a blemish that looked like a footstep *under* the glossy coating, so it was impossible to remove this scuff mark by trying to rub it off. Macy's sent a repair tech to look at the damage and tried to pass off the blemishes as the "manufacturer's styling", and tried to offer a small credit for the "inconvenience". I asked for an exchange, and they replaced the set, but the new table top still had a similar scuff mark in a totally different spot. Completely unsatisfactory. This set is too expensive to suffer from bad quality control. Would not recommend if you care about small details like this.
