Big mprovement on its predecessor!
I received a deluxe 15ml sample of this mask which is, except for perhaps the scent, which isn't bad but doesn't have the unique marine like freshness of the SOS Hydra, an improvement on that predecessor. You can smell the HA component in this one and the added fragrance is similar to the face cream from this line. This is a richly hydrating as opposed to primarily "refreshing" mask. The new formula seems to be purer/cleaner in its ingredient list and contains no alcohol. It also seems to benefit substantially from the addition of one of the ceramides which are known to improve the skin barrier and two new forms of hyaluronic acid. I loved the texture, application and absorption of this mask. I wish I could leave it on all night but while it absorbs very well, I can still feel it on my face and so can't leave it on for more than an hour or two. I also am trying to figure out whether I have a good bad or just okay relationship with hyaluronic acid. I think I do best with less frequency or intensity, so given that this is a mask that's good. My skin definitely felt smooth when I removed the mask and I've discovered that ceramides are probably a great ingredient to add into my regimen considering my slightly dry and sensitive skin type and so despite my feeling that a rinse off moisture mask is something of an oxymoron, I do think Clarins did a very good job with this one and that it's at least worth a try! Impressed that Clarins objectively improved this product while not at all altering its plant extract profile. I think all changes to plant ingredients should only be genuine improvements and not mere cost saving measures, notwithstanding my sincere concern for and belief that our earth should be protected at all costs!
