Sizing way off

this dress was far too wide in waist and chest My daughter is a slender 11 year old so I figured buying the size 8 dress would work. I was wrong. Even my 11-year-old was swimming in it. We thought about taking it in because it is a beautiful dress, but the cost would be incredible. the dress itself and material is beautiful but i can't see how it would fit any average sized kid.

Love the dress but wish the straps were adjustable. It fits my granddaughter but the straps keep falling down. Not a good look.
