How gorgeous is this @illumicrate version of #adayoffallennight ?!? A Day of Fallen Night - Samantha Shannon ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟/5 I was hesitant to read this one because I found Priory extremely tedious to read. But because I already read Priory I didn’t find this one as tedious. The world building is still the same (as these are standalones in the same universe) but I already had a lot of the information and it made it easier to follow along. That being said the book was still dense and the pacing was off in the middle of the book. I enjoyed the beginning of the book and the end but the middle became muddled and I was annoyed with a lot of the things that happened. This leads me to believe, as a reader, that the middle section of the book could have been edited way down. Not a lot happened and the storylines there really weren’t necessary to the overall picture. But I did have things I loved. Samantha’s way of weaving all the characters together is still prevalent here and felt very organic and not forced. Delving more into the Priory this book was one of my favorite parts and gave us a more in depth look into this amazing group of warrior women. The pacing of Glorian’s story was also great. You got to see her grow into her famous moniker of Glorian Shieldheart and how her decisions interwove everyone back together. The characters in this story were well chosen and I can’t say that I disliked any of them like I disliked Niclays in the previous book. Overall if you want to delve back into the world of the Priory of the Orange Tree you will enjoy this one. But if you find too much information tedious you will struggle like I did in the middle. But that is how Samantha writes her books and I totally respect that as a reader. It just isn’t something that I enjoy.
