Sizing issues per chart

Previous AK PL pants vary according to style and/or color. Store had these only in small. I ordered PXL and they are nice, lightweight, but huge! Returning & trying maybe a medium. I hope. Could do without the pockets though, pants are too lightweight to use them . Size chart not good as far as measurements.
