The problem with this item is the quality of construction. Following the instructions explicitly, I started putting it together. But, the fastening prongs (or whatever you call them) recess too low and make it hard for the locking bolts to catch. Then, when I raised them to the level where they could catch, the metal on the locking bolts is too soft. When I would try to lock the prongs in, the bolt would lose shape and not hold. Also, the surface of the coffee table top, while not severely marred, had abrasions in the finish which made it look bad. I guess the packing could be better to avoid that. All in all, I was very disappointed and surprised, as I have had good experiences with Macy's furniture products. Even the ones I have had to put together have typically been solid and attractive. But, this one, even if the locking bolts would catch and hold, I feel would have been pretty wobbly. But, I will never know as the thing came apart because the bolts did not hold their integrity.
