Nasty smell

As I was putting this top on a hanger, I realized that it had a putrid stench. I considered taking it back to the store; however it was exactly the color needed to complete an outfit, so I decided that washing it would probably get the smell out. I soaked it with a Tide pod, and the smell persisted. Washed it again using baking soda, a third time with vinegar, tried baking soda and vinegar, and a fifth time with another Tide pod. Each time, the garment was dried outside in fresh air and sunshine. Finally, the smell of a dirty basement is gone, but there is still a smell that makes it impossible to wear.
