Fineally get to read the second and remainder

I read the first book around 13 and have seen the orginal pbs movie series and some other spin-offs over the years for the series. I loved the story line and always wanted to read the rest of the series and so happy they sold this as a box set reasonable priced. I highly recommend this for preteens and anyone who loves a good read and novels that are little historical

What is not to love about Anne Shirley and her tenacious and kind heart? You evolve with her from a young, hot-headed orphan to an intelligent and elegant young woman.

I Never Read it as a Kid...Maybe I Should Have...

This was not the kind of book I would have picked up as a kid (there are no ghosts...no detectives...no dragons), but I remember my sister watching the movies all the time, and dressing up like Anne, and pretending to drown in a boat. Now that I am on semi-permanent Uncle duty with my sister's kids I see what books they are into and half the time I end up reading them myself, which is how I find myself willingly reaching for the second book in this series (don't report me or they might revoke my dude card). This book is hilarious and smart. I love the older style of language, and reading it is somehow relaxing. I also like the illustrations on each cover in this edition. I've become critical of computer-generated art lately (something about it just looks really fake to me, and I feel like I see it everywhere I go), but these covers look like they were based on real paintings, and I like that. So maybe you haven't read this one yet. Good thing "tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet."
