Here's Why You Need to Read This Book...

Last week, I showed my son (7) The Princess Bride for the first time. He absolutely loves it, and has declared that it is his favorite movie. What can I say, the boy has taste! But!!! When Wesley slayed the R.O.U.S. in the Fire Swamp, much to my surprise, my son burst into tears. He LOVED the R.O.U.S., you see, and was almost inconsolable. But thanks to this book, I was able to explain to him that the R.O.U.S. was not real, and was, in fact, played by a man in a suit. He seemed skeptical, but I told him the full story about how the actor playing the R.O.U.S. had a run-in with the police the night before filming this scene, and almost didn't make it. Thus reassured that no Rodents of Unusual Size were harmed in the making of this movie, my son stopped crying and we were able to continue. So be sure to read this book, folks! The stories are not just charming and entertaining, they are bound to come in handy!

A beautiful collection of memories!

If you are hesitating because you worry it will ruin The Princess Bride book or movie for you with terrible behind the scenes stories made for tabloids, put that thought out of your head. I admit, I hesitated because I did not want the movie or book ruined for me. I am so very glad I took a chance. I would love a hardback copy to keep on my bookshelf right next to my 30th Anniversary copy of Goldman’s novel. This is a wonderful collection of memories and stories of friendships formed and things for a blooper reel. Cary Elwes tells the story of making the movie, concerns about the slow reception of the movie and gratitude for being a part of a very much beloved movie! I laughed it loud and now have to watch the movie again to see a few scenes again with a new backstory. I highly recommend this book for all fans of the book! It was even better than I anticipated! It is enjoyable from beginning to end! Thank you, Mr. Elwes for sharing your lovely memories of what I consider to be one of the best movies (writing, casting, scenery, directing, all of it) of all time! This book is well written and appropriate for all audiences!
