Great line for semi high arches and wide toe box

Great walking shoes

I purchased these for walking. I've bought them before and I think they are a solid shoe. My feet feel comfortable in them as I walk as fast as I can for about an hour. I used to be a runner for 25 years, but for neck problems i started walking instead. I was willing to pay more money for the higher impact I was putting on my body while running, but I feel these are good enough for walking.

Stiff and less comfortable than previous version

I've been buying/wearing Asics Gel sneakers for years, and they've always been supportive and fit well right out of the box without needing to be "broken in" or causing any pain or blisters. Sadly, that hasn't been the case for the Gel-Excite 11. I bought my pair 2 weeks ago and have been very disappointed in the changes made from the previous version of Gel-Excite. First off, the heel on GE-11 seems to ride higher than that on my GE-10 pair, and when I wear these, I feel like my feet are being pushed forward into the toe box. At the same time, the back of the shoe is higher than the previous version so I can't wear my no-show socks anymore bc the shoes rub my achilles tendon wrong and cause the area to become red and painful. Adding insult to injury, Asics took away the heel loop that was so useful for slipping into the shoes easily! I went on an 8-mile walk in these shoes, and the side of my foot and heel hurt from where the shoes had rubbed them wrong. It happened again the next day, so after that, I had to start walking slower and covering less distance at a time so that they wouldn't hurt. I can't return them anymore so now I can only hope that the shoes will become more comfortable with time and don't turn out to be a big waste of money.

You wrecked this line

I do not know why you changed the design of the foot bed from v10 to v11, but you wrecked the shoes. Everything pushes your toes to the front, which, since the 9.5 I bought was about a 1/2" shorter than the last pair I bought, is a massive problem. I have purchased Gel Excite shoes for years, but now I have to find a new go-to shoe.

Much improved upgrade from prior versions. Comfort and fit rank high, true to running size, and cool colors. Reasonably priced compared to other brands.
