Not the quality I expected. Disappointed

I bought my first pair of Ascics Gel (1080-not sure) upon the recommendation of my podiatrist. I went to The Sneaker Store in Ocean City, NJ where I was fitted and told by the clerk that the sneaker should feel like slippers when I put them on. Those sneakers were great and lasted approximately 1-1/2 years. This past February I purchased the Gel Kayano. I'm very disappointed after wearing this shoe for a week at my job as a server. I couldn't wait to get home to take them off and elevate my feet. I also bought another pair to wear to the gym. Both of these sneakers are not comfortable at all! I also noticed that the laces are of poorer quality (not as long and thinner). I feel that these shoes were a waste of my hard-earned money as I am very disappointed. I currently work an 8-hour shift on my feet most of the time. I have since purchased a pair of Brooks (they're ok) and a pair of Hokas that I haven't worn yet. I need a shoe with a lot of cushioning and these Gel Kayano did not provide the cushioning I need. Sorry, but I would not recommend this sneaker.
