Excellent 1440 Monitor

Worked for 30-45 days then developed a solid dead pixel line from top to bottom. Sent back for repair(under warranty) to factory. They installed a new panel and everything has been perfect. Have bought other ASUS monitors and had no problems. Would recommend to others.

Great Value.

You get a lot for what you pay. There are better monitors but what’s the point? You only gain a fraction more for much more pay.

I love this monitor! I just wish it didn't go blue

Overall, I love my new monitor. It's marketed as a gaming monitor, but even for all the other things you use a monitor for, the display is very high-quality in general (and especially for its price bracket, which was admittedly on sale when I got it). Pros: - It arrived very quickly, and the box came with everything I needed to get it set up — even down to the screws and screwdriver to attach it to my monitor arm. - I wanted to try a curved monitor to see what they were like, and I’m really liking this one’s shape. I might stay further back from the monitor than some people do (>100 cm), but for me, the 1500R is just about perfect for accommodating the way I shift around a bit. - I'm very impressed with the display quality of the ASUS Tuf Gaming VG27WQ1B. Text is very clear, and the color of images looks accurate. I thought the picture quality looked pleasant when first hooked it up to hardware that topped out at 1080p, but then I hooked it up to my new desktop and the 1440p resolution looks fantastic. In both cases it has a smooth quality (or however you’d describe the opposite of looking like a bunch of discrete pixels with space between), but at 2k it’s so crisp that I would think any higher resolution would be overkill on a monitor of this size. At first I’d had my concerns about switching from IPS to VA, especially with picture quality and viewing angle, but this monitor doesn’t have the color-distortion issues I’ve experienced with previous non-IPS monitors. Sure, it looks slightly brighter/grayer if I move way off to the side, but it’s nothing extreme and you'd have to shift much farther than you naturally would with just one person. - The monitor is also flicker-free (and I would not have bought it without the rtings verification of this)! I am someone who is extremely sensitive to motion sickness (or technically “cybersickness” here), and using this monitor does not give me headaches (e.g. I can finally read PDF’s with impunity — yes, that’s how sensitive I am to some monitors). Note that I am using it in RPG mode + ECO mode with ELMB disabled, Shadow Boost off, and FreeSync on. The settings can definitely affect your experience. - Although I initially found the mode settings to be a little confusing since I wasn’t sure what the different modes actually did, I just picked the mode that happened to align with my interest category and it automatically changed all the other settings to be what I was already trying to set them to in the first place. Once you get used to how the settings menu works, it’s actually very convenient. I love that you can pick your own shortcuts for what the side buttons will adjust — for example, I set one of them to let me easily turn on/off the Blue Light Filter so I can get accurate colors when working with images and also not have too much blue at night. And I like that there is also a setting for whether the power LED is lit or not. - Even if you don't use ECO mode, the maximum power rating for this monitor is still fairly low compared to other monitors I researched — which was one of the factors that led me to pick this one, after a previous monitor died of overheating (and less power generally means less heat). - I like that the monitor can auto-detect the input source, even if you've plugged the cable into a different slot from what it was set to use. I can keep the monitor plugged into multiple machines, with it automatically switching to whatever I am using. Cons: As much as I like its ability to auto-detect inputs, the side-effects of this feature are my one complaint with this monitor: - When you first turn on your computer, you have to get the timing just right or it sometimes causes the MOBO to make an unhappy beep while the monitor is working on detecting the input source. If you’re trying to see the MOBO loading screen, such as to get into BIOS or bring up the boot menu, it’s sometimes hard to catch it at first startup; it’s much easier do this after a restart since the timing seems to line up better than what I can manage manually. - Startup finesse aside, my primary complaint with this monitor is what happens when you shut down the computer to go to bed: it flashes solid bright BLUE for a few seconds — even with the Blue Light Filter set to maximum anti-blue! It's doing this because this is just what it always does when it's trying to auto-detect the input source; but seriously, why not design it to go to literally any other color when it's looking for inputs since this situation will ALWAYS happen every night for people who actually shut down their computer when they sleep! And the whole point of the Blue Light Filter is that some people don't want a faceful of blue right before bed. In other words, this monitor is great while actually using it, but it has startup quirks and extreme BLUE when you shut down. It’s not perfect, but I’m giving it the highest rating short of perfect because of how nice it is during regular use.
