Broken bed

We bought this bed for our son. Last night while he was in bed the support slats that hold the mattress up splintered and collapsed. Since the return date for this was 5 days ago this piece of crap is our problem. A bad should never splinter and thank God he was not hurt too bad but NEVER NEVER NEVER will I buy any furniture from Macy's again.

Not a platform bed

This was advertised as a platform bed but it uses 3 slats to support. I haven’t assembled yet because I had to order a SEPARATE platform system for my mattress. Other than that, it looks like it would be sturdy though.
