HUGE hit!
While our home's certainly not the Grand Central Station it once was when our children were young, they do visit with our grandchildren during the Christmas season. But rather than surrender to aging and cull all our 'possessions' for anyone's later convenience, we're having the time of our lives doubling down on old traditions for the new generation. By now, we've foregone all the busy kitsch, but do add to our 'collection' when we see something special. So this past October, we purchased Balsam Hill's unique North Pole mailbox, then deployed it right after Thanksgiving. I can't express how wonderful it's been to watch our children steward their littlest ones to craft their very first 'letters' — wishing for world peace, good will toward men, and at the end, 'mentioning' a toy Mom and Dad already had in mind. I admit — it was all I could do to hold back my tears of joy seeing our one daughter and SIL teach their now 1 1/2 year old son the "North Pole Letter" concept. The Balsam Hill mailbox arrived very well-packaged. It was heavy. The mailbox is super sturdy, a deep rich old-school red, and the perfect size for little kids (the age that it matters). It's 'pre-patina'd,' so should be none the worse in the years ahead. While we could have put it under our entryway's covered roof, we chose to locate it inside, near our Christmas tree, a box of writing paper, and kid markers. In the few weeks since it's served its debut role, I still can't bring myself to put it into storage due to our wonderful new memories.

Much smaller than I pictured, not worth the price
This mailbox is quite small. Considering how expensive it was, I would've thought it'd be bigger. I would not buy this again.

What a special touch to my upcoming Holiday Event!
