Great read!

I thought it was a great read. Story moved along at a good pace and didn’t stall. Will definitely be acquiring book 2 in order to finish out the story.

Norse Romantasy Nails It

Much thanks to Danielle L. Jensen, Del Rey Books, and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review! Going to do my best to keep this generally spoiler free. All in all I give this 4.5 stars! This was my first Danielle L. Jensen book, and it has me moving her other books further up my TBR. This is a romantasy steeped in Norse mythology with a simple magic system that left me satisfied, but wanting to know more. I wish we got to know more about the general world, whereas with the amount of detail provided, I was seeing it as more of an olden earth, but with magic. Freya was a strong female lead with many flaws (which we get to see first hand thanks to the first person perspective). Bjorn was a lovely male lead that had fantastic banter with Freya and other characters, and I can't wait to see how their relationship develops in following books, especially given the events of this story. I felt some aspects of the plot were easy to guess (at least for me), and felt there were some repeating patterns, especially towards the end, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. All in all I loved the characters and the chemistry (A for tension), and cannot wait to see how the plot continues to play out in the sequel(s). I'm honestly a bit upset that I've left myself with so long to wait, considering this doesn't even come out until February 2024.

Ehh

So Freya was forced into a marriage to a "God" who is horrible. But when he learns who she is he sells her to earn favor and a younger women. Then she is forced into another marriage because a vision told him that she would bring him victory and to rule. There is alot of miscommunication and lying and missions. I don't think anyone actually tells the truth during this book. There is "forbidden" love and you can't do that because the gods will ruin us. It was an ok story. Freya spends alot of internal monologuing saying the same thing over and over. The "love story" feels forced and not natural. Oh yay another FMC who has a horrible family who uses her and doesn't love her. Everyone can see it but she keeps giving everything for them no matter what. Seriously like come one. Besides that all she does and talk to herself like their is a tiny angel and devil on each shoulder telling what she should do 🙄 And if it's not those 2 things, she talks about how much she wants to do Bjorn. And has a very obvious cliffhanger before book 2.

Great vibes even if a bit predictable

The pace is great and the story is very fun. It was a fast paced and easy read. The plot twists or reveals were predictable but it was still a really enjoyable read. I really loved the atmosphere and dialogue.

Love this fierce fmc

I absolutely loved A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen. The Norse-inspired setting was so immersive, and the mix of destiny, rebellion, and forbidden romance had me totally hooked from the start. The main character was fierce and relatable, and I couldn’t help but root for her through every twist and turn. The story balances action and emotion so well—I genuinely couldn’t put it down. If you’re into mythology, strong heroines, and a bit of angst in your romance, this book is definitely worth reading! I’m dying to read book two, A Curse Carved in Bone, in May 2025! The first edition orange sprayed edges will be stunning with that beautiful cover btw 😍

Exciting fantasy read!

A story filled with secrets, epic battles, and forbidden romance. The characters all had their good and not so good moments. There is plenty of wit, snarky banter, and sarcasm. The FMC is strong-willed and, at times, mildly frustrating. The interactions between Feyra and Bjorn were enjoyable. My favorite part is always the secrets coming to light. It makes for great chaos and future character development.

Damsel in distres... kind of...

🍁arranged marriage 🍁forced proximity 🍁single pov 🍁fantasy The story is not bad, I like how Riftan is gentle with Maxi, considering how she is not treated well when she was growing older because of her stuttering, but sometimes she annoys me.. lol! Because she is soo naive of everything.. but granted it is not her fault she know nothing much about politics and stuff.. but still.. ahaha.. but the story is worth reading!

Vikings, norse mythology... sign me up!

Forced proximity, one horse, forbidden affair, and vikings? What can go wrong? The chemistry is steaming off of Bjorn and Freja, but for some reason, it took me a while to warm up to Freja. She is the hard headed FMC, stubborn, and fated for greatness despite humble beginnings, but she is just so unreasonable and constantly jumps to conclusions, when she has no real proof. The twists and turns were predictable from a mile away, and there were plenty of hints too. The story slowed to a crawl towards the middle, and picked up again thankfully. I am looking forward to the 2nd book and learning more about Bjorn and his past.
