A Delightfully Funny Steamy Holiday RomCom

A JINGLE BELL MINGLE by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone is the third book in their holiday themed romantic comedy series, CHRISTMAS NOTCH. The series is set in Christmas Notch, Vermont, where the wholesome Hope Channel had hired a pornographer to file wholesome Christmas movies. In this novel, former boy band musician and Best Man, Issac Kelly, hooked up with the Maid of Honor, part time adult film actress, director, and make-up artist Sunny Palmer. Sunny had accidentally sold her first screenplay to the Hope Channel, and remained in Christmas Notch after the wedding. However, there was a problem with the Inn, and she accepted Issac’s invitation to stay with him instead. Issac, a reclusive widower, was trying to write the Christmas album that was five years overdue so that he could get out of his contract with his record label and be left alone. But having Sunny in his home brought Issac back to life, and nothing would make him happier than if Sunny would become his muse. But Sunny was convinced that she wasn’t capable of being someone to rely on. This was a steamy, delightfully funny holiday romcom that had me laughing from beginning to end. I loved Sunny’s energy. she was the sunshine to Issac’s grumpy, broody personality. Both characters learned a great deal from each other and needed the support of their friends to truly realize what they had in one another. I definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy a spicy, grumpy sunshine romcom. I am voluntarily writing this honest review after reading a complementary ARC via Netgalley.

Funny and spicy and heartwarming

Sunny Palmer is a screenwriter struggling with a screenplay she sold about a local Christmas legend. Isaac Kelly is a former boyband heartthrob dealing with the death of his young wife and trying to record a Christmas album. Both Sunny and Isaac, who had previously had a one night stand, are in Christmas Notch for a friends' wedding and to deal with their respective issues. After they hook up again, they decide to try and help one another – Isaac will help Sunny with the research for her screenplay and Sunny will help Isaac find a muse for his Christmas album. But will this friendship turn to more? At first, I found this book a bit confusing. I have not read any of the other Christmas Notch books so it was a little confusing jumping right in with other characters who are not the main focus of this book. But ultimately, I was able to follow the plot, with a couple of insignificant holes that I assume are from the other two Christmas Notch books. I really liked the book, while I can't personally relate to an adult film star and the issues that come with that stigma, I thought the book was laugh out loud funny. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters. Both Isaac and Sunny were funny but also complicated with their own heartbreak and issues. I also really liked the depth of their relationship, which Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone did a good job at cultivating. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Exactly what I needed!

My commitment to this series knows absolutely no bounds. Every addition adds to the world and the lore and I am SAT for the next one. SAT. The booksellers are looking at me weird. Anyway, this is exactly what you want it to be—a little bit spicy (🌶️ 🌶️), hilarious, and so chock full of holiday hijinks you’ll feel like you’ve been dropped directly into a Hallmark movie.

Hilarious

This is the third full length novel in the Christmas Notch series by these two and dare I say my favorite? The main characters are best described as slightly unhinged in the best way, sad, and thirsty. So thirsty. It’s fun and surprising and an excellent holiday read that’s just the right amount of Christmasy. A true rom com. I really enjoyed it and laughed out loud several times.

Steamy Holiday Romcom

This is a holiday Romcom with plenty of steamy romance and brooding. Sunny and Isaac find themselves as roommates, lovers, and both on deadlines to their respective employers. It has plenty of grumpy sunshine vibes and the typical misunderstood character plots. I enjoyed this romance story. It was a cute, fast read, with lots of steamy scenes. After all, Sunny is an adult film star and Isaac is a Rockstar!

book 3 in the Christmas Notch series

Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced reading of A Jingle Bell Mingle, which is the latest installment in the Christmas Notch series. This installment continues to deliver all the festive cheer, emotional depth, and steamy romance fans have come to love! These books are like the Hallmark holiday movies we all love, but with a tad bit spicy. In this installment we follow Sunny and Isaac in a story with forced proximity and unexpected connections. Sunny, a part-time adult film star and former director, finds herself in a bind after accidentally selling her first screenplay to the wholesome Hope channel. Six months later, and a fast approaching deadline and nothing to show, She returns to Christmas Notch, Vermont, with hopes that the town’s Christmas miracle will help her to finish the screenplay, Isaac, a former bad-boy musician and the latest owner of the town’s historic mansion who is still grieving the loss of his beautiful bride. Isaac has also been stuck in a creative rut, so he decides to try the holiday genre, much to the chagrin of his music label. After a series of amusing events, Isaac ends up inviting Sunny to move in with him, This new roommate situation sets the stage for plenty of sparks and heartfelt moments. Their playful antics and banter help to break their creative dry spell. While this story is fun and flirty, it also brings true heartfelt emotions. This book is true magic in the Christmas spirit.

Loved this!!

I can't believe it has taken me this long to read this. Isaac and Sunny are a love story for the ages. And the hottest spice at that. I found the storyline to be captivating and motivating me want to find out what is going on with not only our star crossed lovers but also the ghost of Christmas Notch. The parallels between the ghost story and Isaac and Sunny were so well done. Overall I think this might have been my favorite in the series. Both characters were so likable and funny and the storyline held me so well. Job well done.
