From Ali Hazelwood 39's favorite writer, this grumpy-sunshine story is full of sharp banter, deep emotion, irresistible humor, and is 100% pure romance magic (Christina Lauren). When professional and self-taught violinist Gwen Jackson plays, she disappears into the peaks and valleys of each song, a quiet passion that never quite explodes into pure emotion. Xander Thorne is the exact opposite. A cellist and a rock star, he all about big emotion, but not even his six-foot-four frame can contain his skill, his genius and an attitude that borders on jerkitude. Not only did it take Xander a year to notice that he and Gwen both play in the Manhattan Pops, but he also always seems to have the perfect cutting criticism about her technique. When Gwen is offered the role of first chair of the orchestra, something Xander has secretly coveted for years, their existing hostility goes up a notch. Yet, despite her best efforts, Gwen can't ignore the sizzling chemistry between them. Forced to work more closely with each other, they can't help exploring their attraction. As they begin to compose and play songs together, it clear that their powerful connection could make for a performance that would blow everyone minds. Suddenly, they' re box office dynamite, and the

4.5 stars!!

I’m floored by how much I enjoyed this. The way Julie Soto was able to make violins and cellos so sensual in something that I read with my eyes and not ears was incredible. The ending and all the loose ends wrapped up a just a little too quickly for my taste, which bumped it down a half star, but I thoroughly enjoyed almost every aspect of this!

Sweet, hot and feisty!

This book pleasantly surprised me! A slow burn that actually kept me engaged and wanting for more. The tension? The spice? Just chef’s kiss! Also adored the music-specific references that interested me enough to figure out the technicalities for context. Xander and Gwen are amazing MCs that make you root for them individually and as a couple. The perfect read for the fall! I leave this book with both knowledge about music and a big smile on my face. I will definitely come back for more Julie Soto! Favorite quote: “Just because you’re good at something doesn’t mean you have to do it for the rest of your life.”

A Love Letter to Music

Gwen Jackson and Xander Thorne are both musical prodigies, but one is classical music royalty, the other has a less than traditional musical education. Despite having worked together for a year at the Pops Orchestra, he has no idea who she is, but when Gwen is offered the role of First Chair of their orchestra, something Xander had secretly coveted for years, their existing hostility goes up a notch. But their respect for each other's music is undeniable, and their onstage chemistry off the scale. Can they handle the crescendo or will they fall flat? Julie Soto does not know what the sophomore slump is. This book is a 6-star read. The tension and chemistry between our two leads are truly a perfect harmony. God, he was so down bad for her and I think we were all here for it. The cello scene. Do you know what it takes for a contemporary romance novel to have a call to an iconic moment and people just KNOW. The romance and intimacy felt balanced. Of course, our leads had some issues they’d slowly work through BUT they felt relatable enough and came to realizations along the way that allowed them to question their choices. the tension + chemistry was incredibly palpable. I loved in the end they came to know their worth solo and as a duet. Overall this romance was a beautiful love letter to music and I'm so so so excited for Julie's future works!

This is PERFECTION

If there is one thing Julie Soto knows how to write, it’s TENSION. My god. I was kicking my feet, squealing, and giggling this entire book. Gwen and Alex just BURNED on the page and it was perfection. And the pining omg. Alex gives Rights & Wrongs Draco a run for his money. I was obsessed with how obsessed Alex was with gwen. And the setting. Wow. Rivals to lovers in an orchestra?? It was so unique and such an amazing vehicle for a romance. Julie is a genius. I somehow loved this one even more than Forget Me Not, which I didn’t think would be possible. Julie Soto I will forever read anything you ever write, published or not, you are incredible.

Great If A Fan of the Series

"Not Another Love Song" by Julie Soto is an enjoyable romance with some highs and lows. While the writing felt repetitive at times (so many iced lattes and hair tousles), Gwen’s journey of self-discovery and her fiery chemistry with Xander kept me turning the pages. The romance truly delivered—some of the best communication and emotional connection I’ve read recently, plus the spicy scenes were top-notch. The ending was a little rushed, and some plot points felt underdeveloped, but overall, this was a fun and heartfelt read. I’ll definitely be picking up more from Julie Soto in the future!

Perfect Romance

I simply adore Julie Soto. I would honestly read her grocery list. This book absolutely did it for me, I stayed up until 2am because I didn't want to stop. The characters were so endearing (we must protect Alex at all costs!) The stakes felt just right, and the musical aspects were so breathtaking. I want to go buy tickets to see an orchestra now.

A Perfect Romance

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year! Not Another Love Song is romance perfection!! Easy 5 stars. The tension between Gwen and Alex is simply delicious. The amount of push and pull kept me reading well into the night. I was making espresso at 10pm waiting for them to give in and get together! The amount of spice was perfect. The CELLO SCENE iykyk. And the relationships between all characters were complex and beautifully written. I felt so deeply for them. Julie Soto is a queen of romance and this is a must read!
