Page turner!
Thank you Bloomsbury and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. A thrill ride that’s deep! Jo’s the library when her ex best friend shows up and tells her she’s in trouble. Jo thinks she joking. Especially since Jo has fallen it of social graces since her nudes were leaked. Until Maddie ends up missing. Did she runaway or is there something more going on? Jo doesn’t like what the police are saying so she’ll have to force her way back into Maddie’s friend group to find out the truth. She’ll need Hudson’s help but can she trust him? And what if she finds the situation is bigger then just a missing Maddie? Can she handle the danger that comes from knowing people’s secrets? I enjoyed Jo’s journey to finding herself and being strong enough to tell her story! Meredith Adamo tells the story of a girl who the world is against, who people have let down, whose had to much trauma for her age, and who fights gain her voice again! There’s also the mystery aspect and the dynamic of how these two girls drifted apart. A page turner that will keep you hooked and enraged! Highly recommend!

Solving a Mystery While Finding Oneself
Thank you to NetGalley, Bloomsbury Audio, Bloomsbury YA, Meredith Adamo, and Georgina Sadler (audio narrator) for the opportunity to read and listen to the audiobook of Not Like Other Girls in exchange for an honest review. Jo-Lynn used to be the smart popular girl who got great grades. After some events at a party, including six personal nudes chiming their way to every phone, she is now seen as and outcast and perceived as "easy" or "sIutty" by many of her classmates. Other things happened too that affect Jo's motivation in being successful. If only her own family would listen to what she has to say... When Jo's former friend, Maddie, approaches her one afternoon saying she might be in trouble, Jo wants to help. But then Maddie disappears. What happened to Maddie? Most people in the town think she just ran away, especially after not getting into her dream college. But Jo knows there is more to Maddie's disappearance. Their confrontation haunts her, and now Jo must get back in with the in-crowd, the friends she once had who are also Maddie's friends, to help sold her disappearance. Hudson, someone she dated in the past, proposed that he and Jo "fake-date" so they have an excuse for being seen together, when in reality, they seek answers to Maddie's disappearance. As Jo looks for clues, she also looks into her own past trauma's, exploring who she is and how to use her voice not just for others, but for herself too. A thoroughly enjoyable debut novel. The pacing was excellent, and the fake-dating trope goes as one would expect, adding some extra drama to the already intense situation at hand. I enjoyed the characterization and the schemes within the student body that just continued to unroll like toilet paper. The mystery aspect is a bit flat, but still fun to see how everything happens. Perfect for lovers of high school drama and the contemporary high school experience.
