This Was So Much More Than I Expected!!
This started out a bit slow and confusing, but interesting enough to keep me reading. It became more intriguing as it went along and by the halfway point I was totally captivated. This Academy filled with different Paranormals is not all it should be. I would definitely consider this a Fantasy with Romance, Mystery, Disaster and lots of crazy Action. The characters were what kept my interest in the beginning, but the world building, mystery and life altering action are what really did it for me! Yes, I love Jude and Clementine are deliciously complex and wonderfully drawn to each other! The many side characters in the friend group are awesome too!! I need to read book two NOW to see what is going to happen next, especially after that life altering ending!!

Very intriguing!
I was kindly gifted an ARC of Sweet Nightmare by Entangled Publishing and thoroughly enjoyed this quite frankly intense story! I've never ready anything by Tracy Wolff before this and didn't know beforehand that it is based in the same universe as the Crave series. Not to worry, though, as I didn't feel like I was missing anything by coming in blind. Sweet Nightmare is written from the perspective of Clementine, a manticore whose family runs the Calder Academy. The Academy houses all kinds of paranormal creatures from Sirens to Phoenix to Fae and more who have been sent away for abusing their powers in the outside world. Clementine has never been off the island so she's never had access to her powers, as the island blocks all the students' access to them. This is supposedly for the best, but when an insanely ferocious hurricane powers through and the students regain their powers and nightmarish monsters on campus get loose, it's a nightmare all its own for everyone to try to find their way to safety. In my opinion, there is one flaw in the story that would bring me out of the flow at times, which was that it often seemed difficult to believe that the storm was raging as intensely as written during such a significant part of the story yet so many scenes seemed to play out as though the storm was taking breaks as the plot desired. But overall, the story was incredibly intriguing and while I don't traditionally read such detailed fantasy, I'll certainly be looking forward to more of Clementines story!

consuming and thrilling fantasy read
SWEET NIGHTMARE is an intriguing spin-off of the CRAVE series. The story follows Clementine, a manticore who has never been able to experience her powers due to the fact that she has always lived on the island of Calder Academy. Calder is a place where magical beings come when they are young and have made some serious mistakes, such as killing people. On the island, their powers are magically suppressed, which seems to result in perils when they leave and their powers all come flooding back dangerously. While Clementine is aware of all the problems, she feels powerless to change anything, even though her mother is the headmistress of Calder, and her family runs the place. She was basically born into this prison. Luckily, she has some great friends - and Jude, an enemy that used to be one of her BFFs and a crush until the night when her cousin was sent to prison and he began completely ignoring her. When they are paired up for an assignment after she is attacked by some of the menagerie she takes care of as a punishment, Clementine thinks that is the worst that could happen - until a terrible storm rolls in and it seems that the worst is yet to come. What I loved: This was an action-packed read with some mysteries that kept the plot moving at a fast pace. Things just seem to keep going from bad to worse, and Clementine must figure out some hidden truths to understand what is going on and how she and her friends can survive. At the same time, there is a strong romance kindling with her maybe-enemy that grows as she begins to understand more about him and their past. I found the mysteries quite compelling. Although Clementine has spent her whole life at Calder Academy, her knowledge has been severely limited by her mother and the rest of her family. As the story continues, their grip on her will loosen, and she begins to realize more than she ever expected about who she is, what she can do, and the dark and dangerous secrets held by the academy. Her character growth in the story is by leaps and bounds, questioning the things she knows and the people around her. As a warning, there is character death in the story that is quite emotional, and it adds to the darker feel of the story as Clementine and her friends face these trials. The story takes on a thriller feel with the danger lurking at every turn from nature, the secrets kept, and other students. The ending has a bit of a cliffhanger that will make this a tough wait for the sequel. Clementine's perspective gives enough world-building that it was easy to understand and follow along. The reader learns some things along with her as the story continues. Although this is a spinoff of CRAVE, it does work well as a stand-alone. Clementine was quite compelling, and I appreciated her perspectives and growth as the story continues. Jude was also intriguing, and the reader learns much more about him as the story goes on. My favorite character was Izzy though - she is quite crafty, sneaky, full of snark, and clearly has a lot of secrets we have yet to learn. I hope we'll see even more of her in future books. Final verdict: Overall, SWEET NIGHTMARE was an action-packed and fast-paced thriller/fantasy read that is sure to keep readers on their toes. Be prepared for lots of twists, surprises, and a tough wait for the sequel! Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thrilling Ride
Thank you! Entangled Teen and the author for gifting me a copy of this e-book. Wow, what a thrilling ride! Tracy Wolff's latest book had it all - suspense, intrigue, deception, and even a touch of high school drama and romance. As a first-time reader of Wolff's work, I was blown away by her phenomenal writing. The witty banter between the characters, Jude and Clementine, had me hooked, and the perfectly-timed moments of humor kept me engaged throughout. The impending hurricane added to the suspense, and the strong and captivating characters, especially Clementine, made the story all the more gripping. The ending left me eager for more and excited to know what will happen next in the series. I can't wait for Sweet Chaos, which is due out in May 2025. If you're a fan of dark and mysterious fantasy, I highly recommend this book. Don't miss out!

Nightmares are real?
First of all. This book is AMAZING! I literally could not put it down. I was reading it so fast, that I had to hit the breaks to slow down. Nightmare it is. From beginning to the end, it’s one big nightmare. I felt like everyone died! So don’t get too attached like I did. Friendnemies to lovers? Is that what you call it? Friends, but no longer friend and they became lovers. Yeah. It’s not like romanticizing on the characters. It’s more realistic. One bad thing leads to another. But getting to know Remy and Izzy even more. My gosh loved it!!! Izzy has a sense a humor, and remy getting to know him more. Clementine getting to know her, and for who she truly is, is like coming of age. Jude is this emo type of guy, who keeps to himself but lets in a handful of people. Simon, ember, Luis, Mozart different paranormals that we did not see in the crave series. There’s sirens, phoenix, manticore, and so much more. It’s nothing like the crave series. It’s completely different.
