The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden

McFadden does it again—though perhaps not quite as strongly as in her other novels. I’ve read at least six of her books, and she usually keeps me guessing with twists and turns that have me wondering whodunit until the very end. Unfortunately, with this one, I figured it out about a third of the way through. Overall, the story felt a bit too forced compared to her previous work.

Amazing!
At this point, I have read enough of Freida’s books to know that there will be a surprise twist at the end, but it doesn’t keep me from trying to figure it out myself. As usual, I am always pleasantly shocked at the ending, and it keeps me coming back for more every time. Erika Cass has the perfect suburban life, a loving husband and two teenage children. When a girl goes missing and her son, Liam, is the prime suspect Erika can’t deny her suspicions. Her son has always been the model teenager, smart, handsome, polite, athletic, but a mother knows her children best and Erika can’t deny that Liam has always been different. Since Liam was born Erika has spent her whole existence protecting her son, but how far will she go to protect him from himself. If I wasn’t already a fan before I definitely am now. I am forever a Freida readah!

SPOILER (if you haven't read, PLEASE skip this)
I just finished this book last night and started on The Tennant, I liked this book I really wanted to LOVE it especially after reading The Boyfriend and The Teacher. I feel that it would've made a bigger impact if the Erika was actually the "psychopath" being that she was obsessing over her son being like her father and thinking Liam killed Olivia, I feel like it would've been more of a shocker if the mother was the one to take her and hide her... fearing her son was trying to harm her when in reality.. it was her! ...with it being the dad, I was able to catch on before finishing the book idk I just feel that the roles should've been reversed with the parents, it's 100% always the dad!

Highly Recommend
Another book written in crack format. I know a lot of readers felt like the twists at the end were predictable but that was not the case for me. Maybe I'm just blissfully ignorant when I read her books but this one is definitely in the upper 50% of Freida books for me.

Fascinating
I love Freida McFadden’s writing because it flows well and draws me into a story, a world, that I am scared of being in but I have to know what’s going on. The stories definitely mess with my anxiety but I’m always looking for what the crazy twist might be. This one was no different, and, while I figured out the twist early on, I knew there would be one or two more surprises that would leave me shocked and maybe a little terrified.

Woah…
Good book! This is actually my first Freida McFadden book, so I went into this completely blind, and I can now say that I’m a huge fan of her work. I hope the rest of her books have crazy plot twists such as the one in this book

Not Bad
This book was not my favorite, but it was a decent book. I found that I had difficulty picking it back up, and I saw the twist coming a mile away. The characters were incredibly difficult to connect with, and it feels like a little more research would have helped the book a ton.
