Castillo Torres, the Student Body Association event chair and meticulous planner, finds herself in need of a fairy godmother. Following a disastrous incident at her sister's quinceañera and the unexpected loss of her mother, Cas's carefully laid plans begin to unravel. When an internship opportunity with a local lifestyle guru and party planner arises, Cas sees it as a chance to salvage her future. However, she lacks the necessary party planning experience to apply. Booking a quinceañera for a teen Disneyland vlogger seems like the perfect opportunity to gain experience, until she discovers it's just a publicity stunt. As her life veers off course and she starts developing feelings for the chambelán, Cas realizes that real life is more complex than a fairy tale. But perhaps Happily Ever Afters aren't just reserved for movies. Can Cas transition from planner to active participant in her own life, or will she remain a bystander, watching her dreams slip away?

Sweet & Joyful Adventure

The Quince Project is the story of Castillo Torres, a girl who is determined to make magic happen. Cas is a party planner who understands the need for happy endings after losing her mom. When Cas gets the chance to work with a popular Disney influencer, it could be what she needs to finally get her dream job. She soon realizes that there’s more to the quinceañera than meets the eye. Can Cas pull off an epic celebration and create a happy ending for everyone, including herself? The Quince Project is a sweet and joyful adventure. I loved the bond between Cas and her sister Po. They were always there for each other and helped pull off magical celebrations. Jessica Parra also includes themes of grief and loss, without losing the lighthearted joy. Cas, Po, and their dad are all dealing with their loss in different ways and I enjoyed how they finally managed to reconnect. Cas loves happy endings and learns to balance that with her grief. The romance between Cas and Javi is very cute and filled with lots of great moments. I loved the Disney references! Readers who enjoy fun adventures, strong family bonds, and heartfelt emotions will love this book.

A fun romance

I requested an ARC of this book, and all opinions are my own. The first section of this book was very hard for me to get through. I found the main character, Castillo Torres, to be super annoying and she made me want to DNF. I am glad I pushed through as once the story really got going and the other characters began to develop it helped temper Cas. She also grew, and by the end I was a big fan. My only real critique is that all the pop culture references probably won't age well - even if they are out there to begin with. Other than that, it was an enjoyable story. 3.5 stars rounded to 4

Not For Me

I jumped on the chance to read this after falling in love with Jessica Parra’s writing in her other book. I wanted to love this but that same magic wasn’t in this one. While I understand we all process grief differently, the characters in this one were not my favorite; both Cas and Po were relatable but annoying. The incessant Disney references were just as annoying and really took me out of the story. The book got better as they started to process their grief but even their serious fight and subsequent forgiveness scenes were sprinkled with so many Disney references that it was impossible to take it seriously. Recommended for Disney fans.
