One wash and can't wear

Tried to wash this before wearing and some of the threads came out white, so now the front of the shirt looks like it has small white spots on it, when its actually threads that have changed color. Am going to try to return even though we took the tags off and washed. Will contact the manufacturer if Macys doesn't make it right.
