Black Beauty (Collectible Editions) by Anna Sewell
Black Beauty is a colt who narrates his own life story, from his youth on English farms to his days pulling cabs in the streets of London and his eventual retirement to the countryside. Over the years, he is sold to a variety of different owners, some kind and others less so. His life is a constant illustration of the ways that people and people and animals interact with each other. Has a permanent spot on my bookshelf
This story is a true classic for me. It was my favorite classic when I was a child and after reading it again, it stays in first place. The story is written from the viewpoint of the horse, Black Beauty. The reader travels with Beauty through a lifetime of ups and downs with humanity. He was a loyal and patient horse and I loved that no matter what life threw at him, he maintained those wonderful qualities. This is a book that has a permanent spot on my bookshelves.

An amazing story
Black Beauty is a classic children's novel that caused a sensation in the 19th century. It was written by The British writer Anna Sewell, who spent seven years writing it when she was seriously ill. The book describes the joys and sorrows of a horse called Black Beauty and his friends in 19th century England. Black Beauty is a talented horse who has saved his master many times from danger, but he still suffers misfortune later. At the beginning, it lived happily in a mountain village and received good training from childhood. Everything was so good. But, one day it was sold to another person due to a sudden accident. From then on, all the good began to burst. After that, it had been sold many times and had come into contact with all kinds of people. For example, the drunkard who takes out his anger on a horse, the driver who whips him, the savage who treats a horse like a beast and the good man who treats it like a friend. It has “tasted” the sweetness and bitterness of life. It goes through many trials and tribulations, and finally gets a new life after a brush with death. The work reveals the inner world of the horse, as well as the description of the human society coldly looking on the houses. In real life, there are still many things like this happening. Every creature has bright eyes that yearn for respect and understanding, not ordering and whipping. I love this book, it reflects the state of the society from the margins. The life of the people at the bottom is like the horse’s. There is no right to choose.
