Sizing is Terrible

The shirt is very nice but the sizing chart is terrible. It is in international sizes S,M,L but there isn’t a way to figure out what size a s,m or l are in American sizing. I tried to guess but I wasn’t even close. I am returning them because I bought a 4th & 6th birthday shirt in M but they are more like a medium youth size which is 10-12. 4 & 6 year olds are usually still in children sizes not youth.
