The wheels problem is unbelievable. I can't go 10 feet without them severely going sideways and dragging me with them. I'm not exaggerating to say it was unusable just testing it around my house. Sent it back immediately. I'm bummed because the rest of the suitcase is very good. It's just not functional when the wheels don't perform.

External Aesthetics Impeccable • Internal Lining Subpar
I gifted my wife a new carry-on for Mother’s Day 2025. She was completely surprised seeing something from her wishlist. The external aesthetics of this luggage is classic and impeccable, the spinners were smooth, the handle was sturdy. So for the most part, the majority, if not all of the external features met her expectations. However, her first time using the luggage she found some of the internal features lacking. 1) The clips on the garment panel were flimsy, 2) Lining was sub-par (ie felt thin, lacked durability to the touch) and 3) stained easily. One of her oil based cosmetics leaked and stained the lining in several places, in the garment folder/suiter area (identical areas as a review written by Amy A. on March 27, 2025). I’ve compared this lining to other brands we own (all being at least 1/2 the cost), the vast majority used a nylon that feels thicker (ie more durable/substantial), some with long lasting ripstop nylon. This type of staining has not occurred with any of the luggage we’ve owned (luggage is older and may have been coated with a fabric protector by the manufacturer). The overall durability/quality/life expectancy of B&R Essential’s lining is now in question for me. An anti-microbial lining would also be a nice addition considering the cost of this luggage. I would like to put a fabric protector on this lining but I’m not sure if it would defeat the purpose by causing staining of its own or if a fabric protector would even be beneficial on the material composition B&R uses for their lining. CLEANING SOLUTION: Please conduct your own due diligence prior to applying this cleaning method for oil/grease stains. I found a video/method online using two ingredients, Dawn dish detergent and baking soda, mixed into a paste. I was able to visibly remove the majority of the cosmetic oil staining (99. 9%) with one application and reduced the visibility of one (1) stubborn stain by 95%, by applying the cleaning mixture (2X) twice, (I had to look closely, stain was slightly visible). If I applied the cleaning mixture a third time, I may have gotten closer to 98%-99. 9%. Anyway my wife was happy with my cleaning efforts and the pit in my stomach dissipated, as I didn’t feel as bad that I spent precious $$$$ just to see a stained lining ruin a wishlist gift.

I adore my new Briggs & Riley Essential 22" Carry-On Expandable Spinner!
This is truly the best suitcase I have ever owned! I just used it on a 12-day European vacation and it held everything I needed, was easy to roll on all surfaces (even cobblestones) and to move from plane to train to automobile to boat. I love the compression technology and the front compartment for my laptop. This suitcase is a higher price than I usually spend on luggage but is already worth every penny and will be my go-to suitcase from now on.

Best Carry On Ever
Amazing what details can do, especially the mechanism that compresses everything to make the size correct for the airline

Best Of the Best Carry-On
The luggage has a very unique feature that I don’t believe any other LUGGAGE in the industry has at least not that I’m aware of. It allows you to expand your carry-on put more clothes in. It has the ability to compress the clothes once you zip the bag shut. There’s multiple pockets very easy to get to for your electronics your headphones your phone extremely easy to maneuver in the airport. The wheels are fantastic. I believe it’s a durable piece of luggage as well and it has the best guarantee in the industry lifetime guarantee kind of tough to beat that. I highly recommend making a LUGGAGE investment. They are expensive, but they stand behind them.

Great bag some flaws
I have been using this bag for a year now and mostly love it. My only gripe is that it’s too heavy starting out. 10lbs before you get anything in it is a lot. But I love that the bottom of the inside is completely flat, that’s the feature that made me buy this bag over the others that I researched. I don’t usually use the garment bag part so I remove that extra flap to save weight. I use this bag with the compression cubes and toiletries bag and everything fits perfectly. There have been a few times that I put everything in, compress the bag down, and when I stand it up the top compression part releases, not sure if my bag is faulty in that regard or if they all do that. Over all, the bag looks great and I like it but I’m not convinced it was the best bag for the money.
