Pretty Dress, but Runs Small
Very pretty dress. Bought 2 Calvin Klein Floral Sheath Dresses, same style, same size, different color. One fit perfectly, this one I could barely get on. Love the gold zipper in Calvin Klein dresses. Probably the major reason I always buy this designer's Scuba Sheath dresses---and I buy a lot! I do agree with other reviewers, the dress material is heavy,but it is a beautiful "knock out" dress!
Material allows for variable sizing
Because of the fabric type I think this could be flexible for many body shapes. I have a very difficult time finding form fitting dresses to fit the bust and butt. If I upsize in these areas the waist is too big. Because of this fabric it allows stretch in the areas that need it without flattening them to look like the clothing does not fit. The length is just above the knee...depending on your height, I am 5' 7". Fabric is thicker and made to be last and print really makes it a timeless piece.
Dissapointing
This dress looked lovely online. And it LOOKS lovely in person. Until you touch it. It is very very heavy & feels like scuba material. I could never wear this in warm weather~it would make me “overheat” in seconds! It’s such a shame because the design is great. The print, seaming & exposed zipper are just perfect. But with this fabric, I could never wear it out & about. It fit perfectly but, nothing matters though, because of the weight of the fabric. It’s going back & I'm SO dissapointed.
Pretty Dress: Black is Unlined; White is Lined
Prior to purchasing the cream dress I spoke to Macy's Calvin Klein dress "expert." The dress description explains that the dress is unlined. My experience is that CK's lighter colors are usually lined and the darker ones are not. The "expert" assured me that the white one is not lined, but that the fabric is thick enough that it is not see through. I care because I would just prefer to wear my own slip rather than have a heavier polyester liner sewn to the dress. Those liners often don't lie flat and look lumpy. Well, I ordered the white dress. Sure enough, it was lined. It is a pretty dress. I would have loved it had it not been lined. But when I put it on, try as I might, I just could not get the liner lumps smoothed out. I found the black dress last night and am wearing it today. It is not lined, and it is equally beautiful. It fits perfectly and smooths out properly for a sheath dress. This is the one I should have ordered in the first place. It is a classy looking dress. It hugs in all the right places and is comfortable to wear. It does not need a liner, but I am wearing a half slip with it anyway. I would like to be able to rely on Macy's dress "experts." However, more often than not, I have found that all they know about the product is what little information they can find on the webpage. It would be nice to be able to speak with someone with actual product knowledge, rather than someone in a foreign call center who has never actually seen the dresses of which they have been declared to be "experts."
