Why this stylish vest has to be soooo warm?

Purchased in black. The look and fit are perfect, great stylish material and design BUT, ....I am still fuguring out how to use it, as it's very warm, really warm! I planned to wear it over a cotton hoodie to keep my body warmer, but it's too heavy for that. I know if my arms will be fine, my body will be sweating. Why would someone make such a warm vest???
