A trans boy determined to prove his gender to his traditional Latinx family summons a ghost who refuses to leave in Aiden Thomas's New York Times-bestselling paranormal YA debut Cemetery Boys, described by Entertainment Weekly as "groundbreaking." Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can't get rid of him. When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his true gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free. However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school's resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He's determined to find out what happened and tie off some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave. Praise for Cemetery Boys- Longlisted for the National Book Award "The novel perfectly balances the vibrant, energetic Latinx culture while delving into heavy topics like LGBTQ+ acceptance, deportation, colonization, and racism within authoritative establishments." - TeenVogue.com.

Excellent Audio Book!

I listened to this during a recent move and it was such a great book! I really enjoyed the two main characters and the story Thomas wove. Admittedly, I knew what was going to happen early on and who the person behind things was, but that didn't make the experience any less enjoyable for me. I'm not sure who the person reading the audiobook was, but they were also incredible! I highly recommend this book however you want to read it, whether physically or by listening. It's fun, witchy, and I cannot wait for book two!!

Must read.

Such a good read. I really enjoyed it! Honestly such a good book, the interactions between the characters is amazing. The budding romance and the mystery held my attention til the very last page. I really enjoyed it. The representation was beautifully done and the characters and the setting was really well done and paced throughout the book. The ending had me crying. Check it out!

New Favorite!

My god, this book is wonderful. Heartwarming, suspenseful, and bitter-sweet! I fell in love with Julian along with Yadriel. The way he describes Julian’s soul, I CRIED! I want to give them a big warm hug, such sweet babies. Please read, it brings back faith in love and humanity! It will leave you happy and warm, I promise~

Atmospheric and emotional tale!

This Latinx fantasy was full of rich world-building. The writing was atmospheric and emotional. Some heartbreaking moments in this tale as Yadriel fights to be seen for who he truly is. I was so glad that Maritza had his back from the start and that Julian assisted him on his journey with confidence. Yadriel’s growing attachment to Julian was slow and sincere—so sweet! There were enough hints to predict the end without it being annoyingly obvious. The climax unfolded with intensity and the epilogue was full of hope.

Oh, Such a Wonderful Surprise

It took a little bit to get into the story, but after a few chapters, I couldn't put it down. I can always tell I loved a story when I'm already excited about the sequel before I've finished the last chapter

A Stunning Debut

This book is one of my all time favorites. I first read it a year ago, and it grabbed me right away. Yadriel desire for his family to accept and recognize him as the Brujo is so strong, and his relationships with Maritza and Julian is really compelling. Julian especially, as he is able to relate to Yadriel as a fellow outcast, and provides him the encouragement needed to stand up for who he is. Julian as a whole is my favorite kind the character. The kind who is overlooked and underestimated by everyone, while also being unfailingly loyal to those he loves. This book made me an instant fan of Aiden Thomas, and I'm eager to see what they come up with for the sequel.

My Favorite Book

I purchased this book as a gift for myself, only vaguely knowing what it was about, and it was the best decision I made. It’s hard to find a lot of transgender stories in general, let alone one like this. I found myself crying, laughing, and smiling along with the characters and I can’t get enough of this story!
