Book is about loss

Wanted to love this but this is a book that attempts to teach kids how to cope with grief/loss. While I appreciate honoring our loved ones/ancestors, I didn't enjoy the reference to death/passing in a new year book. It just feels unlucky and very unexpected. It was difficult to discuss this with my young child as there was no heads up that it would come up in the book sleeves. The story was okay. The best part was the illustration.
