The characters in this narrative are not only well-developed but are also intricately designed to be both interesting and engaging, drawing readers into their world with ease. Cinder, the protagonist, is a powerful amalgamation of beauty and grace, yet she is also portrayed with moments of clumsiness and flaws that make her incredibly relatable. Her imperfections and struggles resonate with readers on a personal level, allowing them to connect with her journey in a meaningful way. This blend of characteristics creates a multi-dimensional character who embodies the essence of what it means to be human, making her not just a character in a story, but a reflection of the complexities of real life. The supporting characters enrich the narrative further by introducing elements of mystery, emotion, power, and strength. Each character brings their own unique background and experiences, contributing to the overall depth of the story. For instance, characters like Peony and Iko are not merely sidekicks; they are integral to Cinder's development and the unfolding of the plot. Their interactions with Cinder reveal layers of emotion and complexity that enhance the reader's understanding of the protagonist's world and challenges. The settings within the story are crafted with a simplistic yet immersive quality that transports readers to a futuristic realm. This world is not just a backdrop; it is a character in its own right, filled with vivid imagery and intricate details that enhance the overall experience. The futuristic elements are seamlessly woven into the narrative, creating an atmosphere that is both familiar and otherworldly, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the story. The writing itself is exceptionally well-executed, maintaining a pace that keeps readers engaged and on the edge of their seats. The author skillfully balances descriptive passages with action-driven scenes, ensuring that the narrative flows smoothly while also holding the reader's interest. The emotional depth of the story is palpable, drawing readers into the characters' experiences and making them feel invested in their journeys. The plot is intricately developed, filled with action, emotion, and unexpected twists that keep readers guessing. Each revelation adds layers to the story, enriching the magical adventure and the theme of self-discovery that resonates throughout the narrative. The exploration of the struggle between power and heart is particularly compelling, offering reflections that are relevant for readers of all ages. This theme encourages introspection and invites readers to consider their own values and the choices they make in their lives. The author has taken the well-known fairytale of Cinderella and transformed it into a unique narrative that stands on its own. In this retelling, Cinder emerges as a character who embodies not only strength and humor but also grace, loyalty, and kindness. She is depicted as a warrior in her own right, showcasing the idea that true power comes from within and that one does not need a prince to achieve their goals or rise above adversity. This message is not only empowering for Cinder but extends to the supporting female characters, such as Peony and Iko, who also demonstrate resilience and strength. As I reflect on the themes presented in this book, I find myself eager to delve deeper into the series. The narrative leaves a lasting impression, prompting thoughts about the nature of empowerment and the idea that one can rise from their circumstances, much like a phoenix from the ashes. This notion resonates deeply, highlighting that every girl, princess, or cyborg has the potential to forge their own path and accomplish great things, independent of traditional romantic tropes. The story serves as a powerful reminder that strength, courage, and self-discovery are essential components of any character's journey, making it a truly inspiring read for all.

I loved it!
Honestly, this is one of my favorite books. I’ve read it 3 times already and plan to read it again very soon. And that’s not normal for me. The plot is so well executed and the characters are structured so well that you find yourself deeply invested in their lives before you know it. Cinder is such a strong girl, and she will do anything to help those she loves, including sacrifice herself if needed. I love the romance and the whole storyline.

A Fun Retelling
I have heard of CInder many times before, but man it was not what I expected in the best way possible. Immediately from the first time I looked at the book I could tell it was going to be interesting; with a cover of a robotic foot inside a red heel and the name being Cinder. I knew it was a take on the classic Cinderella story but with a robot, and I was thinking what some of you might be thinking right now: 'what more can be said about the Cinderella story, and how can she be a robot and it still works?' But Merissa Meyer pleasantly surprised me with this drastic take on the Cinderella story; she adds so much depth to characters and weaves in a whole plot about a disease, Letumosis, and a tyrannic queen who lives on the Moon that the people on Earth are afraid of going into an interplanetary war with and it just adds so much more to the basic story that is Cinderella, that you just have to read to understand. Meyers immediately hits you as soon as you start reading, you jump into the world and it doesn't explain much so it leaves the reader to have to figure out what's going on and how this world works. Which not everyone enjoys doing, sometimes I don't like books where you have to infer what's happening, but Meyers does it in such a clear and fluid way that makes it easy to slip into and it makes you feel ready about what you're about to read. I also liked that you have to actively think about what you're reading because it's not mindless like some books where you take in information but you're not retaining it; but with this beginning, you have to, and it's nice to use your brain while reading. Overall, the way she writes makes it really fun to read where there were some moments where I couldn't put the book down or I was super excited to read. But then there were days where I couldn't pick it up because I didn't care for a certain plot or it felt like it dragged on a little, but normally it would only be like 10-20 pages so once you get past those it becomes fun and exciting to read again. Speaking of plots all of them felt pretty solid in this book. They were interesting to read some could drag at moments but it's outweighed by Meyers's really good writing for tension and build-up. And in the end, there's a 50-page finale where everything comes together, and if I'm honest I was a little confused but it was really exciting and fun to read, and it sets up nicely for the next book. I also said this earlier but she does add so much depth to characters, for example, the love interest Kai, where in the original story he's just seen as this 2-dimensional guy and is only there to further the plot but in Cinder, you get to know him and his struggles as he develops a relationship with Cinder and he's just a great character. Another example of Meyers's great character writing is the stepmom Adri, who you really learn to hate, she also makes one of the evil step-sisters really sweet and you learn to like and care for her which is different from the normal Cinderella story. There are many more examples of great characters that you'll have to read to see for yourself Cinder is just such a different book than what you see nowadays and overall it's just a great mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and a retelling of a classic story. This really was just such a fun book to read, it kept you on edge and wanting for more and I would definitely recommend it because I had fun from the start.
