Clark's take, with the single monk strap, was the closet I could come to Johnston & Murphy's monk strap loafer which I owned/loved in the late 70's.Taking into account Clark's tendency to run a half size large-I guessed correctly by ordering the size 10.The fit and moderate support allows for thinner orthotics-but only with light gauge dress socks .The narrowness,as some have noted ,could be noticed more in the degree of the toe box's gradation from the forefoot to the front of the shoe,rather than it's width.They feel comfortable enough for a long day,look great and if you purchase them on sale -you could be very pleased with your choice.One issue ,and it is not with the shoe ,but instead with the picker/shipper & confirmed via complaint lodged with Macys.com.The shoe was a floor model ! ,from a store in Maryland-rather than fresh inventory from the Oklahoma !If this is as important to you as it was to me,assert that when ordering with a Customer Service representative in real time.
